to make a difference, and the time to make a difference is now! Change does not happen in your comfort zone. It takes hootspa, spunk, and the wild and wacky. Practice doing everything differently.

Vegetarianism

Vegetarianism is a topic that arises frequently in sessions with clients as many believe that, in order to be spiritual, one must become a vegetarian.

First, you are Spirit. There is nothing you can do to become "more spiritual." Absolutely nothing. You are Spirit. End of story.

That said, there are things we can do to become more conscious or more aware of ourselves as Spirit. Each time we increase our awareness or consciousness, we increase the light we can hold in our physical vessels, and we become more aware of ourselves as Spirit. This consciousness, or this awareness of ourselves as Spirit, does not happen by following rules or dogma (such as becoming vegetarian). Becoming vegetarian will not make you more spiritual or more conscious. In fact, I have seen many vegetarians who are just as unconscious, and sometimes more unconscious, than their fellow carnivores.

The path to remembering our spiritual selves lies not in following prescribed rules, policies, and conventions; the path is one of awareness, acceptance, and appreciation. When we practice awareness, acceptance, and appreciation, we understand that all things are Spirit and all things have consciousness. Yes, ALL things have consciousness. Humans have consciousness. Animals have consciousness. Plants have consciousness.

Many do not believe in eating meat because they do not wish to cause animals to suffer. Yet, these people do not think twice about killing an apple or a broccoli. The act is the same, only the vibrational frequency of the consciousness is different. Perhaps, being on your plate is the apple's, broccoli's, or animal's highest purpose. In offering themselves in this manner, these consciousnesses are not only being of service to you, they also ensure their own evolution to a higher vibrational frequency by assimilating their energy with your energy. Humanity is not separate from other life forms. When humanity evolves, so do the apples, the broccolis, the animals, and so does every other life form.

Animals and plants are not less than we are simply because they exist at a different level. Most do not normally mourn a tree when it dies because it is further from our own vibration. Animals are closer to our vibrational frequency and so we are able to perceive them more similarly to ourselves. When we understand that all things have consciousness, can we truly believe there is a difference between killing a plant or killing an animal? Is there any differentiation whatsoever in eating a plant or eating an animal? Are you in a position to determine whose consciousness has greater worth?

Many plants and animals receive great joy in being able to provide sustenance and nourishment for our human bodies. They have volunteered to serve humanity in this way until we are able to find our way back to the light and nourish ourselves with light and love once more. How do we honor this great sacrifice? When partaking of any nourishment, be it plant or animal, do we honor the sacredness of this gift?

Archangel Michael often says: "As an aspirant on the spiritual path, what comes out of your mouth is far more important than what goes into your mouth." Meaning, are you judging others, expecting others to behave a certain way, criticizing the choices others make, or demanding others do it your way? This is a far more important activity to become conscious of than what food you choose as nourishment for your bodily vessel.

For you see, you may tell yourself that you are "spiritual" because you are a vegetarian, but where you dwell in consciousness is where you truly dwell. If your consciousness needs to convince another to become vegetarian, to judge or criticize another for not being vegetarian, to insult or demean another because you think they should be vegetarian, then becoming vegetarian has not done anything to help YOU to increase YOUR consciousness. You are the same ole judgmental, critical, demanding person you have always been, but you are now a judgmental, critical, demanding person who happens to be a vegetarian. Same energy. Same consciousness. No spiritual growth happening here.

If, however, you have chosen to become vegetarian to honor animals and you practice honoring plants in other ways, if you allow others to make their own choices without judgment, opinion, or condemnation, if you are able to practice acceptance and appreciation for all that is and for all of the choices that others make for themselves, then your choice has served to raise your consciousness, and you have "become more spiritual," or more aware of yourself as Spirit.

Remember, what comes out of your mouth is much more important than what goes into your mouth. What comes out of your mouth? Judgment, criticism, opinion? Or awareness, acceptance, and appreciation?
